European Integration, Democratic Resilience, and the Future of EU Enlargement: Ganna Sarybaieva Participates in an Expert Discussion in Vienna

Ganna Sarybaieva Participated in an International Expert Discussion on the Future of EU Enlargement

On 16 June 2026, the international expert event “Waiting for Europe: EU Enlargement in an Era of Uncertainty” took place in Vienna. The event was jointly organised by the International Institute for Peace (IIP), the Karl-Renner-Institut, and the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip).

Among the participants was Ganna Sarybaieva, Doctor of Law and Founder of Open Dialogue Platform.

The programme brought together representatives of international organisations, think tanks, academic institutions, and civil society to discuss the challenges and prospects of European Union enlargement in a period of increasing geopolitical uncertainty. Particular attention was devoted to the European integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and the countries of the Western Balkans, the role of civil society in reform processes, and the impact of security challenges on the future of the European project.

Participants exchanged views on democratic resilience, the rule of law, regional cooperation, and civic engagement as essential components of successful European transformation. Special focus was placed on the role of younger generations in shaping Europe’s future and strengthening interregional dialogue.

Participation in such international expert events contributes to strengthening the presence of Ukrainian academic and civil society perspectives within European policy discussions on the future of Europe, democratic development, and institutional resilience.
